Friendly Hiroshima to touristy Kyoto!

Our train didn't leave until about 2 today and since the sun was out we decided to go to and see Hiroshima castle (rebuilt obviously since the original was blown up from the atomic bomb). It's a really nice little castle, elk known for being one of the first flay ground castles around that used the man made rivers and moats as defence.

There was an area where you could try on the traditional outfits but we chickened out haha

We had a nice walk around the grounds and then made our way back to get our bags we the hotel and this time we reserved seats on the train!

Had a nice lunch in the station - it had one of the restaurants with the traditional seating on the outside area where you sit on the tatami mats and take your shoes off! There were a bunch of old guys in the area near us that all said hello and tried to speak English, it was cute! They were so nice!

Got on the train and tried to go through photos from my camera on the tablet but these trains are so comfy you want to go to sleep so that didn't last long but the 1 and a half hour ride didn't take long at all so just ended up napping for 5 minutes haha

Arrived back at Shin-Osaka and changed trains to Kyoto. Arrived and was instantly confused at the station, so big!

Got to the Daiya Ryokan and found 2 little old ladies at the door (where shoes are yo be taken off, genkan I think) and checked in. Find out later that it is a shared bathroom with 1 shower and 1 Japanese style bath, Ben was not overly impressed, especially since there is 1 toilet too haha

It was quite chilly again but we went to the station to catch one if the many buses to Kiyomizu temple thinking there might be a light show on... I think it ended the day before :(

After many nice photos and seeing lots of girls in their kimonos, we headed back to a bus stop... Hour crap the line was big so we walked further up past another busy bus stop and found one that was pretty empty and got the bus back.

Starving at this point we went into a department store that had a good level on level 6 and we cheated and had the first thing we saw which was steak lol

Now to see if these futon mattresses are any good! Not a good start with the pillow seeming to be made of rice in a bag??
