Takayama!!!

Headed for Takayama today so we booked or tickets for 11am, with only 1 change over on Nagoya.  Gorgeous scenery but i was busy culling down the photos on the tablet (sd card in the tablet) so maybe I'll get some nice photos on the way back when we go to Yudanaka in a few days!

As you can see we ate living the bento boxes (food) you get grin the stations!

Getting closer to Takayama we noticed that it was snowing outside! Very pretty but not looking forward to getting off the warm train haha

It was slightly sunny and not snowing when we got off but it was still really cold and we got an English map from the conveniently located tourist information counter outside the station and walked 5 mins to the hotel.

This ryokan is so much nicer than the one in Kyoto and I think it was cheaper too!  There are separate men and womens toilets and public baths and more than 1 bloody toilet which the other one had! The futon mattresses are nice and thick, the blankets are really warm and the pillows are finally soft!!! Hallelujah!

We had a rest for a while and then decided to go look around on the free bikes and on the way back to the hotel (with freezing fingers and toes) it started snowing lightly while we riding - it was amazing!!

Since we were a bit frozen when we got back and the baths were open for use now we both went got separate baths. Luckily no one was in there at the time so I took off my clothes and went in, locked the door and cleaned myself in the cleaning station (there were 4 stools at 2 different stations, each with a mirror and a little shower head and soap on a bench above where you clean first). So I cleans myself and go to get in the overflowing bath in the middle of the floor and nearly burn my toes off! Must have been too early... It was boiling! Ben said the boys bath was only warm so he didn't go in... Weird!

Now we have to brave the child again later to get dinner lol
